Context & Background
Following the modernization of Knowledge Network’s appointment-based broadcast site, BC’s public broadcaster partnered again with Work[at]Play and my studio EUX to pioneer its first online streaming service—web plus native Android & iOS apps—introducing UI and interaction patterns for browsing and discovering on-demand content across devices well before these patterns became industry standard.
Streaming Success
- Knowledge Network reaches an average of 1.5 million viewers per week—over one-third of British Columbians .
- As of fiscal 2023, the network reported a $3.3 million surplus and held $25.2 million in reserves—enough to cover 206 % of its annual program costs .
